Iraq: Ammar al-Hakim and Barzani Discuss Political Crisis

Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani and the President of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), Ammar al-Hakim, met to discuss the current acute political crisis faced by Iraq.

AhlulBayt News Agency - Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani and the President of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), Ammar al-Hakim, met to discuss the current acute political crisis faced by Iraq.

In a meeting on April 12, Barzani and Hakim discussed the latest political situation in Iraq as well as bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and ISCI.

The two officials exchanged views on the causes which have led Iraq into the hardship, intensified by the on-going war against the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) as well as severe financial crisis.

Barzani reiterated that with the lack of an actual political partnership among all Iraqi components, the crisis may not be addressed.

The pair also emphasised that those Iraqi components which played an outstanding role in overthrowing dictatorship in Iraq, should once again take action to resolve the political crisis.
